WIMP for all music lovers
WiMP is a streaming service that gives you full access to play music from a library of several million tracks. You can browse the catalogue and WIMP recommendations, find lists with new releases, search for artists, albums and tracks, and build your own playlists.
Wimp is a service from Platekompaniet and Aspiro Music in Norway in collaboration with Telenor. For the time being, WIMP is available on the Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish market.
WiMP was recently also extended to Canal Digital’s (DTH) new Set-top-boxes from ADB in Norway. This is the first time that this type of advanced music service is available for Norwegian TV customers. The upgrade makes it possible for customers to use their iPad, iPhone and iPod as a remote, by downloading a new App called Canal Digital Remote from App Store.

Study on music and content sharing
The media landscape is continuously shaping across media. The Clouds and Concerts music study is an example of Telenor research collaboration with partners. This is a joint research project between the University of Oslo, content provider Aspiro and Telenor. The project analyzed nine weeks of anonymous data from WIMP before, during and after Norway’s largest music festival “Øya” (August 2010). They retrieved some amazing results on how the festival actually stimulated people’s streaming practices and music streaming from “the cloud”, gaining considerable momentum at international conferences. These days the partners are starting a new music project including location related issues within a Nordic perspective.
